Kevin Scanlan ’73
Kevin Scanlan was an outstanding swimmer both at Lakewood High School and in his collegiate career. He was one of the best distance freestyle swimmers in the history of Ohio swimming, Kevin was a leader both in and out of the swimming pool. Between 1973 and 1978, Kevin for both Kent State Univer-sity and Cleveland State University setting numerous school and con-ference records. At Cleveland State, Kevin set records in the 500 free, 1000 free, 1650 free, 200 free and was on the record setting 400 and 800 free relays teams, one of the most successful teams in CSU‟s history.
At Kent State, Kevin led his team to the Mid-American Conference Champion-ship and at Cleveland State led his team to three straight Penn-Ohio Conference Champi-onships. He qualified for the 400 and 800 free relays for the Division I NCAA Champi-onship while at CSU.
